SEO for HR consultancies
Built to produce a filled mandate, not an enquiry count.
You are paid when a role closes. Not when a form is submitted, not when a CV arrives, and certainly not when a rankings report improves. We build the employer-side architecture, the function-and-seniority pages, and the reporting that ends at a filled mandate.
Every consultancy talks about a talent shortage. Read the first card.
You are not short of candidates. You are short of mandates — and your website is built for the wrong one of those two.
The candidate is not the scarce thing.
The unemployment rate among Indians educated to secondary level and above is more than double the headline rate — our division of the two published figures. Among the young it is roughly triple.
MoSPI, Periodic Labour Force Survey Annual Report 2025, released 27 March 2026 — 2,70,472 households, 11,48,634 persons. India. Most formal hiring is re-hiring.
In June 2025, about 16.93 lakh members who had exited earlier rejoined against about 10.62 lakh genuinely new subscribers — our division of the two published absolutes. Your market is a switcher market, and every switch leaves a vacancy behind.
Ministry of Labour & Employment / EPFO provisional payroll data, PIB release 20 August 2025. Provisional in the publisher's own words. India.Ten pages selling SEO into this category, and what they leave out.
Not one mentions any statute that governs a recruitment business. Ten of ten carry a superlative; none attributes one to a named, dated source. Nine address the employer and the candidate as if they were one audience.
Base 10. Found through a US-locale web-search API that could not be bound to an Indian locale, then read through a fetch-and-summarise tool — not hand-read from raw HTML. 3 Indian publishers, 6 non-Indian agencies, 1 software vendor. Every count is a floor. This is the sentence the whole category has backwards. Candidates are the abundant side of your market. Mandates are the scarce side. Almost every consultancy site we opened is built, page for page, for the abundant side.
Four things, done together. It fails the moment one is missing.
Being found by an employer at the moment a role opens, and being credible enough that they brief you rather than the consultancy their board member already used. Across organic, Maps and AI answers — with one job the other verticals do not have: keeping the employer and the candidate apart.
An employer-side architecture, separate from anything a candidate touches
"Recruitment agency in [city]" and "jobs in [city]" are not the same search, are not made by the same person, and must not land on the same page. A single site trying to rank for both ends up ranking convincingly for neither — and in our observation the candidate side wins, because it is the side with the volume.
A page for every function, sector and seniority band you actually place
Not a services page listing twelve verticals. One indexable URL per thing you are genuinely good at, each carrying the mandate types you take, the seniority band, the fee model, the typical time-to-fill and the last comparable role you closed. The job boards own everything generic, permanently.
Credentials the algorithm and the buyer can both read
The entity name and registration, GST, EPF and ESI where you run payroll — and, if you place people in overseas jobs, your recruiting-agent registration number on the page with a link to the Ministry’s own register. Nought of the ten pages we audited mentions that a recruitment business can hold a checkable licence at all.
Tracking that ends at a filled mandate
Enquiry, brief received, shortlist submitted, offer accepted, fee invoiced, repeat mandate — attributed to source at every step. If the reporting stops at "enquiries", it is measuring the cheapest and least meaningful event in your business.
What it is not. A job-board strategy. We are not going to help you out-rank a national job aggregator for “jobs in [city]”, because you cannot — and the attempt is how consultancies end up paying to serve an audience that never buys.
A map of intent, not a keyword dump.
Five bands. The further down the list a term sits, the closer the searcher is to briefing somebody — and the more a page targeting it is worth. Band 3 first, then 4, then 5.
Lowest value to you, highest volume in the category, and the band that swallows most consultancy websites. Build for citation and pipeline, never at the expense of bands 3, 4 and 5.
An employer forming a preference before naming anybody. Rising value — this is where you are shortlisted without knowing it.
An employer who has decided to act but does not yet know what they need, what it costs, or whether a rule applies to them. Highest conversion rate on the page and almost no competition, because everybody else is writing for band 1.
Recruitment fee structures are the highest-value organic term set in this vertical, and the one most consultancies refuse to publish anything about.
Highest value of all. Decided in minutes, frequently in the Map pack for mid-market local mandates and almost never in it for retained senior search.
We have no HR, recruitment or staffing client. Here is what comes closest, and exactly where it stops.
Four engagements, each with its boundary stated on the page rather than in a footnote. If a named client in your exact vertical is a dealbreaker, it should be — and you should take an agency that has one.
200+ potential calls per month, primarily from Google Business Profile actions. Average top-5 rankings across key high-intent local keywords. Lead-to-sales conversion improved 20%. The goal was average top 3; we achieved average top 5, and we are publishing the gap.
We lead with this because it is the only professional-services engagement on our file and yours is a professional-services purchase — a business owner choosing an adviser, where the conversion that matters is downstream of the enquiry. Read the word "potential": it is in our source and we do not drop it. Three boundaries: that buyer signs alone, business-profile actions are a proximity mechanism, and a loan file closes in weeks where a mandate recurs — economics nothing in this row demonstrates.
Monthly appointment leads 40 → 120. Cost per lead ₹680 → ₹410. First-response rate 66% → 86% — a 20-point improvement.
The first-response mechanism, and it is the most transferable operational finding we have for your business: an employer who has sent the same brief to three consultancies is deciding on who comes back first with a real shortlist. A 20-point movement in first-response rate costs nothing and decides mandates. The boundary: cost per lead fell there because organic and Maps took over bought volume in a category with high, repeatable, local demand. Your mandate volume is lumpy and event-driven.
Over sixteen months: 4,07,000 search impressions, 4,060 clicks, average position 10.9, average CTR 1%.
What page two is actually worth, measured from our own client’s Search Console rather than asserted from a US click-curve study. We put it here because "we’ll get you ranking" is sold hard into your category and means least in it. The boundary: a patient’s click behaviour is not an employer’s. The arithmetic transfers, the audience does not — visibility with no reason to click is a report, not a result.
Ten cities unified under one source-tracked lead system.
The multi-location attribution mechanism, and nothing else. If you run desks or branches in more than one city, the finding that transfers is that per-city source tracking is what lets you tell whether a weak branch is weak on location, on staffing or on visibility. The boundary is total: this is an appliance-repair business, and we are naming it as what it is rather than filing it under something that sounds closer.
Our professional training and consulting client — on paper the closest-looking business to yours.
Our own internal record states the same metric at 30% in one section and 60% in another, for the same period. One of those is the target and one is the outcome, and nobody internally can say which. Until that is settled, neither figure is publishable and that client is not on this page. On a page arguing that this category makes claims nobody can check, publishing a number we cannot reconcile ourselves would end the argument against us.
What we did instead, on 2 September 2026
What failed, and what we therefore do not claim
“Simply the best! worked wonders for our website’s visibility. Their strategic approach and professionalism made all the difference.”
“Very committed, prompt and quick in updating to the ever-changing digital platform. Very valuable suggestions to always keep our digital presence relevant to our patients.”
“If you need a digital marketing agency that truly delivers, Search Engineers is the one to trust. They’ve played a key role in our success, consistently driving impressive ROI and making every rupee spent worthwhile.”
“Choosing Search Engineers for our digital marketing was the best decision we made. Their tailored strategies, attention to detail, and continuous optimization have led to a substantial increase in traffic and conversions.”
Six phases, applied to an HR consultancy.
Phases one to three build visibility. Phases four to six convert it. Most agencies stop after phase three, which in this category means more traffic, almost all of it candidates, and a consultant spending her mornings deleting applications.
We audit the site, the Business Profile and the ad account — then measure how much of your existing organic visibility is candidate-side and how much is employer-side. In most cases that is the number that changes the conversation.
Separate the mandate queries from the job queries from the eligibility queries — and write the third list down as the list we are not chasing, in writing, before we start.
Build the employer-side architecture and separate it structurally from the candidate side. One indexable page per function, sector and seniority band you actually place.
The trust layer a buyer can verify without calling you — and the only part of your website their legal team will actually read.
Enquiry, brief received, shortlist submitted, offer accepted, fee invoiced, repeat mandate — attributed to source at every stage. The candidate pipeline is instrumented separately so it never contaminates the employer numbers.
Plan from filled mandates, time-to-fill and repeat mandates by original source — not from enquiry count. Budget shifts toward the desks that produce fees and away from the pages that produce applications.
Scoped to your size — here is what changes.
We don't publish a fixed price, because a two-person specialist desk and a multi-city consultancy running domestic and overseas desks are not the same job. What we can publish is exactly what changes between them, so you can work out which column you're in before you ever speak to us.
Best fit: One or two functions, one seniority band, founder-led delivery.
Best fit: Several desks or sectors, a delivery team, contingency and retained mixed.
Best fit: Branches or desks in more than one city, or an overseas placement arm alongside a domestic one.
What we can point to about how this market moves.
The Government’s own survey, against what your category claims.
A switcher market, and a free national channel you are competing with.
A credential your buyer can verify in one click, and nobody uses.
This category is not like other SEO.
Two employers. Two completely different journeys. Neither of them is the candidate.
A founder in a 40-person company loses her operations head on a Tuesday. She has no vendor list and no time. She opens three sites, and on two of them the first thing she meets is a job-search box. She leaves. The third has a page about hiring an operations head — what it costs, how long it takes, what happens if the person leaves in ninety days — and she fills in the form on that page. Most of that decision happens in under four minutes, and none of it happens on your homepage.
Six ways HR consultancy SEO is not like SEO for anything else.
The first one is the page itself. This is the only business we work in where two people with opposite interests search for you on the same day, and only one of them ever pays you.
We could not observe it. The capture failed, and we are telling you rather than describing a surface we did not see.
The only search instrument available to us is a web-search API whose own documentation describes it as US-only, and we could not bind it to an Indian locale. There is no AI Overview reading on this page, no local pack, no People Also Ask, no related searches, no autocomplete, no Trends reading and no search volume for a single term.
Three industries. Focus is the product.
Healthcare, education and professional services. We turn away SaaS and e-commerce — and we have real engagements in both, which is exactly why citing them here would contradict the refusal that appears four times on this page.
Everything above the rule is built for somebody who will pay you. Everything below it is built not to compete with them.
Employers search for the role they need to fill, or the compliance problem they've just been handed.
Each of these is its own page, its own keyword set and its own conversion path.
What you get here — and what you won't.
The questions we get most often.
How long does SEO for an HR consultancy take to show results?+
Google Business Profile movement in 60–90 days. Organic movement in 6–9 months for a specialist desk, 6–12 months for a multi-desk consultancy, and 9–15 months for a multi-city or domestic-plus-overseas group. But the first useful change lands in week one and it is structural rather than algorithmic: separating your employer-side pages from your candidate-side pages, and publishing a fee model and a function-and-seniority page for each desk you actually work. At Arasu Dental Care, sixteen months of work produced 4,07,000 impressions and an average position of 10.9 — which is exactly why we prioritise the terms already sitting just off page one before chasing new ones. Anyone quoting you 30 days is describing a rank tracker, not a mandate.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?+
No. Nobody credible does, and in your category the guarantee is a specific risk rather than a general one: the Consumer Protection Act 2019 defines a misleading advertisement to include one that "gives a false guarantee to, or is likely to mislead the consumers as to the nature, substance, quantity or quality of such product or service." What we will show you instead is real, checkable movement from named clients: Dayal Eye Centre’s LASIK page moved from position 38 to 2, its cataract page from 44 to 3; Grow Associates reached an average of top 5 across key high-intent local terms against a stated goal of top 3, which we did not hit and are publishing anyway. What we commit to in writing before we start is the list of terms we are not going to chase.
How much does SEO for a recruitment consultancy cost in India?+
We don’t publish a fixed price, and we don’t publish a package tier either. The scope drivers are specific and knowable: how many desks you actually work, whether you run domestic placement only or domestic and overseas, how many cities you deliver in, whether you run a jobs feed that needs technical control, and whether your existing site has any employer-side architecture at all. After a free one-hour audit you get a defined scope and a straight number. What we will also tell you on that call is whether search is your problem at all — if your mandates come entirely from three long-standing client relationships and a referral network, you may not need us, and we would rather say that before you pay us.
Should my jobs feed and my employer pages be on the same website?+
They can share a domain, but they cannot share an architecture. The employer side needs its own entry point, its own navigation and its own internal link graph; the candidate side needs a separate template and deliberately controlled indexation. A jobs feed generates hundreds of thin, short-lived, near-duplicate URLs, and left alone it will consume your crawl budget and dilute the topical signal of the pages that earn fees. The moment a job post appears inside the employer-side tree, the split is gone.
Do we publish our recruiting-agent registration number?+
If you recruit for employment outside India and you hold one, yes — on the overseas pages, with a link to the Ministry’s own active-agents list, which the Ministry states is updated on a daily basis. It is the single cheapest act of differentiation available to an overseas-placement consultancy in India, and nought of the ten agency pages we audited mentions that the register exists. It belongs on the overseas pages and nowhere else: a registration held by one legal entity does not travel to a sister entity’s page.
What do you report?+
Mandates received, mandates filled, time-to-fill and repeat mandates by original source. Rankings and traffic are in there as diagnostics, not as the report. The candidate pipeline is instrumented separately so it never contaminates the employer numbers — otherwise your best-performing page is whichever one attracts the most applications, and you will keep investing in it.
Is SEO better than Google Ads for a recruitment consultancy?+
Both, in an order. We ran Google Ads and Meta for Dayal Eye Centre and they worked, so we are not anti-ads — we are against ads being the only channel, because the meter never stops. There is also a problem specific to you: paid search in recruitment is disproportionately efficient at buying candidate clicks, because candidates outnumber employers by orders of magnitude and click more readily. If your employer-side pages do not exist yet, paid traffic just buys you more applications. We have found no credible published India recruitment CPC or cost-per-lead benchmark and we won’t invent one.
Do you work with corporate training or business consulting firms too?+
Yes, but on different pages with a stated boundary. Corporate training, L&D, leadership development and POSH training belong to our corporate training provider page. Strategy, operations, growth advisory, restructuring and virtual-CXO work belong to our management and business consultant page. Study routes, permanent residence and visa work sit with immigration and visa consultants — a boundary that is statutory, because the Emigration Act 1983 governs departure with a view to taking up employment outside India and is not a study-visa or permanent-residence statute. If your firm genuinely does both, you get both pages and a line between them.
